The Psychic Vampire Codexby Michael Szul on 2006-06-23 15:37:30tags: michelle belanger, vampire codex, vampires There are going to be a few occult types that will frown on this book, and might even regard its contents as fantasy fluff lacking the "real" occultism that other systems maintain. This, however, is nothing more than bias and disinterest on their part, and should be taken very lightly indeed. To the contrary, Michelle Belanger has constructed a masterpiece of vampiric/gothic literature that includes an updated version of her Vampire Codex, which has been adopted as the tome of choice in the vampire community. Michelle does what no other author has done before her: she delivers an examination of the vampire subculture through the eyes of a vampire. After all, who better to relay such cultural and spiritual beliefs than one already on the inside. This book and its contents will be of interest to two main people: the vampire, and the cultural scholar. Those rooted in the vampire subculture - or those slowly moving in that direction - will receive a highly enjoyable experience from the reading of this book, complete with instructions on the ritualistic aspects of vampire feedings, etc. Most importantly, those "closet" vampires struggling to discover just what they are, will find this book refreshing, and maybe even life altering. The cultural scholar will enjoy the chronology that Michelle puts forth in front of her book that details the development of her own life as a vampire, as well as the community that develops around these vampiric principles. A vague interest in the development of subcultures will implore the reader into absorbing Michelle's text and watching the timeline fly before their eyes. This book is written for a specific genre and a specific audience; and though some occultist might brush it aside, the pure truth is that Michelle delivers exactly what she intends too, and if one listens very intently, one can hear the vampiric community rejoicing. The Psychic Vampire Codex is an amalgamation of ritualized text, workbook, vampiric history, and personal journal that lets a person see the vampire subculture through its own eyes. You may never look at them the same again... And that's a good thing. |
